Last Week   I started playing with some fabric again with the hope that it would “oil the creative machine”.
 And it did.
I had two pieces of the patched together batiks. I would make two 20″ throw pillows.

I decided to try some free hand quilting with the embroidery foot of my Bernina. I guess it’s free hand quilting. I only had two layers of fabric, no batting. I attached some muslin to the back for support.

I stitched abstract swirly designs on each square. No stabilizer in between the layers. I want it to crinkle with age and washings.

It was fun. I was able to really pick up speed after awhile.
This is what the back looked like.

I designed a simple vintage button closure at the top like a sack.
Better lighting outside to see the colors.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them yet.  I’ll ponder while I start another project.
I am aware now that sewing and creating like this without a plan is much like Julia Cameron’s “Morning Pages” for me.  That if I will just have the self discipline to sit down and create every day, settle myself into the process,  my muse will show up…..every time.
Thanks so much for reading my blog. What are your “Morning Pages”?  How does your muse appear?
Love,  Cowgirl Red    aka Terah

  1. Those are beautiful pillows 🙂 They look lovely and inviting on that chair!

  2. Gorgeous pillows!!
Not sure. My muse has been on vacation for a few weeks–ROFL! 😉

  3. I love your pillows. It think it is great that you found your muse. I am not really sure what it is but I love blogging and communicating with other people who also love to create. Could that be a muse? I am not sure.

These are great pillows and I love the closure! It's always great to read when like minds are doing similar projects. Before Adam's accident I was very faithful with my 'pages' and I tried to write them while at the hospital but I couldn't do it. I can't wait to get back on track. I started drawing more as a result, 'pages' kick started my muse. Aren't they refreshing! Hugs!

These are the best pillows I've seen in FOREVER! Gorgeous. Isn't free motion quilting fun? I assume it's close to free motion stitching which I do and love. It's hard to get yourself to sit down and do things sometimes isn't it? I'm glad you did though, this paid off big time girl!

  6. Gorgeous colors in these. Always good to get those creative juices flowing..
