OK. So Paint and I get finished gathering some steers for T.H. He sorts off some big ones to take to another pasture closer to home in order to get them ready to sell next week.  One has a sore eye that needs to come home to be doctored.

Small problem.  They didn’t all fit in the front of the stock trailer. He put the ‘sore eye’ in the back and said “Paint ought to be alright back there with him. Load him up.”

 Okie Dokie.

I never really did this with Paint before. And truthfully, I wasn’t worried about my horse at all. I just didn’t want to get shit all over my saddle and my white horse.

I was a little concerned about the welfare of the steer, however. Paint is trained to cut and sort and move cattle away. He can be a little nasty when another horse or cow invades his personal space.  We use him to train unruly younger horses in the trailer.

I knew one thing for sure, by the time we got home that steer would be ‘trailer-broke’.

Adding to this little drama is the fact that the poor steer can’t see out of his left eye. He probably thinks another steer has joined him.

What?
What are you?
Paint’s a little nonplussed too.
Here now!  You stay over there.
See this imaginary line?
Nonplussed turns to P.O.’d.
Hey! Red!   W.T.F.??
Really?
Don’t touch me.
I’m touching you!

This remind’s me of my brother and I and family vacations in the back of a 1962 red Pontiac station wagon.
I mean it! Do not cross the line.
My brother wasn’t allowed to hit us girls so we would tease him unmercifully or pinch his ears until he couldn’t take it anymore and he would whack us and we would tell mom and he would get in trouble. It was beautiful.
Pretending to be good while your mother is watching.

We arrive at our destination and it looks like Paint did what my brother would do.

Put his ‘patootie’ right in my face.

Love, Cowgirl Red  aka  Terah

P.S.  I am so easily amused.  Yet people still ask me …. “What do you do with your time?”

  1. i am also so easily amused. This was wonderful! I chuckled as I gazed at the unfolding drama and giggled as I read your descriptions and story about your brother. I was the oldest, so my brother knew not to cross me. Paint really kept that “sore eye” in line. Didn’t want to be buddies with the same critters that need to be tracked down and kept in line. Must have felt like consorting with the enemy! LOL!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Lady!! 🙂 🙂

I sat here and giggled out loud. My boss asked me what I was laughing at. Ahem… This is a riot. I hope Paint doesn’t hold this against you. Have a great weekend.
