I’ve had Playboy for two weeks. He has not displayed one single solitary quirk.

None. Zip. Nada. Nothing.

I like my horses to be quirky. It makes me happy if they’re quirky. It gives me something to write (blog, talk) about.

Now what am I supposed to do?  Make stuff up?

Come on, Playboy. There has to be something “off”  in that pretty head of yours?

You don’t spook at little white dogs. You happily share your barn with 7 cats, one dog and who knows how many raccoons.

You like kids. You stand still.  You don’t get on my front porch. You don’t eat dog food. You don’t chew the paint off my truck.

Come on now. You have to give me something to work with here.

You don’t do anything weird. And frankly, I find that just plain weird.

My friend (a cutting horse trainer) said not to worry. That this horse has had more of a “professional life” ….. up to now.

That he has full faith and knowledge in me. That given time, I will be able to successfully bring out all the weird, quirky, annoying habits to the surface just like my other horses.
Thank you.   I think?

Love,  Cowgirl Red   aka  Terah

P.S.  Tuesday, Playboy and I are off to Oklahoma City for the Battle in the Saddle.  , where “not-quirky” will be a definite plus for this cowgirl.  He’s all business, all the time, and I promise to keep you updated on our adventure.

  1. Based on the quirks of your others……I am sure it is only a matter of time till Playboy gets in touch with his inner quirkiness……I am sure he is just suppressing his quirks right now….but you’ll get him to let loose – I have no doubt!

  2. A new horse! All work and no play? I’m sure you’ll allow him to be his true self. But before his quirkiness takes the foreground, I wish you luck at Battle In The Saddle!! 😉

  3. Best of Luck at the Nationals!!!!!!!!!!!! I know you will do great!

What a treasure this horse must be to you. He is just awaiting the proper time to introduce you to his ‘other’ side. After all the honeymoon isn’t over yet. Best of luck at the Nationals.

  5. He’s playing cool until he figures out what he can get away with- they you’ll see the real him!
