I have missed sewing this spring. I have really missed sharing with my CED 2011 artist friends.
This spring was all cattle, horses, dogs and ranch stuff. The weather staid cool. So I was outside most days and exhausted most nights. Now the cattle are settled and the afternoons are hot and muggy. Mornings are for outside work (and play). I will be forever planted upstairs every afternoon in my new studio with the A/C on high.

This weekend, feeling a little rusty and out of practice, I started playing around with some fabric to get the juices flowing. Sort of like a musician practicing scales. I had no plan. Just 3 pieces of fabric from my stash. Can’t remember what their original purpose was. Batik. Maybe some fat quarters I picked up somewhere.
I just started cutting squares with no real plan other than ” I hope I have enough to make one throw pillow when I’m finshed”. That would be 20X20, twice.
I just started cutting and sewing and pressing and top stitching. Would this be called free-form quilting? It became too symetrical so I just kept cutting strips and re-sewing. I have a picture on my bulletin board of the Artist Quiltmakers of Gee’s Bend, Alabama . I would like try something like that.
This is not like the Gee’s Bend Quilts. But I really like abstract and asymetrical quilts.
And this isn’t really a quilt.
It’s just me playing around. Getting my creative juices flowing again.

I have 2 pieces measuring about 22X44. Enough for 2pillows. Or something else. I don’t know. It was fun.

Terah, thanks for your posts. I'm glad you're enjoying the posts from Morocco! We had a super trip. I'm in Wyoming right now so I looked to see where a Western Cowgirl might live but I see you're in Kansas. I was visiting my daughter in Paonia, CO, and her husband had applied for a job in Sheridan, Wyoming last week. They called for an interview and I said, well, let's take a road trip and all go. Which was very brave of me as their kids are 7, 5, 3, and 6 months. But it's been great. Wyoming is absolutely amazingly beautiful.

I love the colors and that batik look. Can't wiat to see what you make. How about a sarong for summer. Perfect colors.
Very productive playtime!! I can hardly wait to see what you make with these. Big nonidentical but matching pillows? Yup, I can see it. Whatever you decide, they/it will be awesome, I'm sure–and I want to see pictures! 😉

I am jonesing to get my hands into some project right now. I've been pulled in so many other directions of late and its beginning to get to me. Time to get off the train or next stop will be crazyville!
