After my recent epiphany that quilting is like Canned Soup  (artistically speaking, of course, for myself only) I know I can do this myself and it will taste better.
I purchased one item.  A Bernina Free Hand Quilting Foot for $40.
Then I watched a couple videos on YouTube.
This is our maiden voyage.  I am in love.
My first “victim” was the Lap Quilt I designed a few weeks ago.
I say “victim” because it is a love affair and that’s what I call all my former lovers. It’s a term of endearment.

I asked my customer (cousin) if she minded her project being my first victim.
She had no idea what I was talking about.

It was fun.  It got crazy.  I wanted it to be whacky.

I had no problem with “whacky”.  I do not possess the skill set yet to do anything but “whacky”.

The “high brow” in me wants to use the term “Abstract Art”.  You know,  “a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual reference in the world……”  Huh?  (Wikipedia)

It’s a “Fiber-Doodle”.

I’m very happy with the finished piece. It’s already on it’s way to California.
I felt spiritually connected to this quilt from beginning to end.
This is me.  This is what I do.
This is my art.
Love,  Cowgirl Red     aka   Terah
P.S.  I really watched more than a couple videos on YouTube.  A couple videos on Free Hand Quilting then two hours later when I regained consciousness I was watching Gloria Steinem talk about the documentary film “Miss Representation”.  Which I cannot wait to see.  I digress.

Hi Terah, I love your whacky doodle quilting….it looks fantastic…. I understand "whacky" …."abstract" is a bit vague for me…

  4. I am just thrilled that you bought yourself the right foot and went for it! This is just awesome!! I just knew that whatever you did would just be "you" and would fit perfectly. So exciting!! I predict you will never go back. :):)

You're so funny! But a funny girl that is SO talented. I wish I could sew. There's not a bone in me that can run a sewing machine. =(
