“Maybe our Girlfriends are our Soul-Mates and guys are just people to have fun with”.

I stole that from Dabney Porte and Social Media Girlfriends on Facebook today.

And it got me to thinking……

Who really knows my heart?

It’s no secret that TH and I haven’t been getting along lately. (That’s a subject for another day) I’m pretty sure I’m not getting any Godiva Chocolates or Victoria Secret’s Lingerie. So it’s Valentine’s Day and I’m not particularly bummed out. This is not my first rodeo. (or my second). The up side to my partner not speaking to me is  that it frees up lots of time for introspection and pursuit of connection with my girlfriends, dogs, and horses.

The subject today is this …… Who knows my heart?

Last Saturday I hosted a Valentine’s Luncheon in town for my women’s spirituality group. At the exact time the 45 guests were arriving the plumbing in the church quit working.  Yes….. Totally quit…. Funny now.  We laughed, we adapted, and we had our luncheon. Love was in the room. You girls know my heart.

I recently spent a weekend in Texas with my best friend from girlhood in Tulsa.  We had lost touch for many years and through the magic of Facebook….. Voila! We found each other in 2009. And it is like we never were apart!  She knows my heart.

I also spent a few days with a  “cow”girl-friend from Wyoming that I hadn’t seen in 5 years. I met her 3 year-old little cowboy for the first time. We picked up where we left off and I have a new Cowboy Valentine. He stole my heart.

My baby girl turned 26 on Saturday. I’ve known her heart since it’s first beat and she has known mine.

And then there is the daily knowing of my heart by my posse.

So Dabney, thanks for the thought this Valentine’s Day.  Though, I might change it slightly.

“Maybe our Girlfriends, Dogs and Horses are our Soul-Mates. And guys are just people to have fun with”

(when they are speaking to us)

Now, I think I’ll go buy myself some roses.

Happy “G”alentine’s Day!

Love,  Cowgirl Red   aka Terah
