Spring came early in Kansas. Blessed Spring. And green grass.

Puncher has more work/play to do everyday.  We have been really busy sorting and moving cattle around.

I am perfecting my “Hip Shots”  technique while loading the stock trailer with her.I just hold my pocket camera at waist level, while it is set on “Burst” and hope for the best.

T.H. and I had finished sorting some steers to take to another pasture.  Puncher’s job now is to load the trailer. She’s really not supposed to make them jump up in the air like that, but I can’t help what they do. That’s T.H. on the left there. He gets upset when we maim them.

The open stock trailer is up ahead to the right at the end of this “alley” .  I’m telling Puncher stuff like ” Push ‘Em” and “Easy” and “Stop” or “Walk Up”. Even though T.H. is there, she is deaf to him. (like me).  She only works for me. It’s awesome.

She keeps pushing them and biting them a little to get them to make the turn to the right.

If they turn around and look at her, she will discourage them.

 Like here.

Ouchie! They acquiesce.

We’ve come a long way since my dumb ass got her leg broke two years ago.

She’s three years old now and has all the confidence in the world.

She walks them up to the trailer. Holds them. They start jumping in. Then….

Ooops!  She gets a little too ambitious and starts chewing on that “Baldie”. He had no where to go with a dog attached to his leg.  I must not have been paying attention to call her off.

I’m sure T.H. was nonplussed as usual.

Straight at me!  I must have either jumped out of the way or she turned him in time, because this “Hip Shot” indicates that I was about to get freight-trained. I remember nothing.

He aquiesses and loads himself.
Good girl.  No wrecks today. (Yet) T.H. happy (for T.H.)

Now if I could just teach her to shut the end gate.

Love,   Cowgirl Red  aka  Terah
