I made this Paint Horse Pillow pillow last winter and blogged about it.

One of the things I adore about blogging is the people I have met. The friends I’ve made.

My friend Suzanne of Fairchild Farmgirl  is an artist, mom to 8, wife to Big D, and surrogate mother to untold number of cattle, ducks, lambs, grape vines, the list goes on. She asked me if she could paint a picture of my horse in trade for this pillow for her daughter’s birthday.  Well the answer was not yes, it was  Heck Yes!

Here it is, and I must tell everyone that I absolutely love it!  When I unwrapped the package I was so moved that I was speechless.  It looks just like him!  She captured his expression perfectly. She is so talented and creative.  It’s a real ostrich egg. And the stand is a piece of burl wood that she found and polished.

Some detail.

I’ve been meaning to ask her if they raise ostriches too?  It wouldn’t surprise me.

Where does one get an ostrich egg?

Isn’t Suzanne something?

How did she think this up?  How did she learn how to do this?

I think she was born knowing.

I have it in my living room. I will treasure this forever.

Like I treasure him.

Thank you Suzanne !

Love,  Cowgirl Red   aka  Terah

P.S.  Gracie got the Paint Horse Pillow for her birthday. She called me on the phone to tell me how much she loved it.  And she told me all about her own Paint Horse.  I love blogging.  I’m grateful for what blogging has brought into my life.

PS Grace is going to love this! Watch for my blog about how she saved a life here on the farm. Hopefully I get it done tomorrow. (DOn’t worry it was just a steer) =)

Wow. You just never know what will happen when two artists meet. What a special trade. Gracie looks like such a sweet girl. I know she will treasure your pillow as you will your painting. The painting is great and the substrate is a lovely creation itself. You are Blessed Terah.

  3. How very cool! The art on the egg is awesome and the look on the little girl’s face with your pillow is wonderful. Both pieces…beautiful!!! 🙂
