This ranch
 is burnt up with drought.
 But everyday,
 on my walks
 and on my horse
 I can still find
  pockets of beauty.
 The Monarchs come
 twice a year.
 They’re headed south
 this time.
The oldtimers say there used to be more.
I’m grateful for these.
 There seems to be
a side show going on behind me.
 Not to worry.
 He’s funny, not agile.
No butterflies were sacrificed for my entertainment.
 Or his.
A typical Border Collie Butterfly Obsession.

Love,   Cowgirl Red    aka  Terah

  1. Wow! Lovely post! Thank you.

Here's my Wordless Wednesday. I'd also invite you to throw your hat into the contest to win a $25 Amazon giftcard this month at my blog.

  2. They're beautiful and I loved the videos! When I was a kid I grew up next to a field of wild flowers (later dug up to build a senior high school) and the monarchs came through Minnesota, too. There used to be just thousands of them on that field twice a year. So many that there were a lot of dead ones on the road every year. It was a sight to behold. Don't see them much anymore, so this was a treat! Thanks, Terah! 🙂

    PS
    Love the new header/logo!! 🙂

  3. Nice to meet you Deb! I'll pop on over.
Rita, I remember them as a child in Oklahoma like that also. Coming through our neighborhood by the thousands. Don't see them as much either. That's why it is such a thrill. xox thanks Terah
